Adam West: The batman Died At The Age Of 88….
First Batman Adam West passed away today at the age of 88, after fighting with leukemia.
“Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans’ lives. He was and always will be our hero,” the family said in a statement.
Adam West portrayed the caped crusader on ABC’s Batman since 1966-1968, along with other star casts like Burgess Meredith as The Penguin, Vincent Price as Egghead and Julie Newmar as Catwoman.
Adam worked hard but could not match his fame as Dark Knight, and he often appeared at the conventions in Bat suit.
The cartoon which later on reunited him with his co-star Burt Ward as sidekick Robin also lasted for 16 episodes only.
“Batman: Return of the caped crusaders” was the last time he came back for Warner Bros and reunited with his co-stars Ward and Newmar in this animated film.
“It’s amazing when you say ‘be back,’ because it’s like it never really went away,” West told the Daily News last October. “Wherever I go they love Batman, and, you know, consequently, I learned to love ‘Batman‘ because it gives people happy times. I guess I’m the funny Batman, which is okay to deliver the laughs.”
