At the time of high security and strictness especially in Airports, soon by October every citizen may require a special number that of Aadhar card’s or Passport number to book the flight even for the domestic use. According to the statement released by union aviation minister Jayant Sinha on Wednesday “The digital traveller working group and national no-fly list implementation plan suggests that a unique digital ID may be required for air travel. In the next 90 to 120 days, some unique ID like PAN, Aadhar card or passport may be needed to book an air ticket.”
Currently at every entry point a passenger has to show ID card and air ticket and passport for the international travel to get inside the terminal. But after the changes the passenger has to carry PAN card or passport number of every sought of flight for digital verification. In order to make travel a seamless affair, the aviation ministry has set up a working group along with suggestions regarding the implementation of the same. Before finalizing the norms the group will come out with white papers within 30 days for the comments of stakeholders.
Under the new norms Aadhar card will not be mandatory, but just another option for digital identification. Only those who will provide biometric ID will able to pass in airports. After all this if passenger feels the need to carry a boarding pass then they can.
