7 Amazing Indian TV Shows that we loved as 90’s Kids!
Those were the days when we used to come rushing home from school, changing clothes as soon as possible to switch on our TV for that daily dose of Tom & Jerry and Pokémon. But apart from cartoons, there were few Indian shows we loved to watch. Here is a list of some lively Indian sitcoms that would refresh your childhood memories.
1.) Son Pari
Son Pari was one of the favorite shows of kids based on fantasy. It was the serial about the girl named Fruity who receives a magical gem, when rubbed, a fairy with her friend genie appears to help her. It was one of the popular shows kids used to watch. Sometimes even Fruity used to travel to the fairy land and help the fairies, when in trouble.
2.) Karishma Ka Karishma
It was an Indian remake of popular American serial Small Wonder. This serial gained a huge popularity because it was launched at the time when science fiction was an unexplained genre in India. The story is about the scientist who designed a lifelike robot named Karishma, with the aim to make it behave like humans as the time grows.
This show was a fantasy serial that revolves around a girl named Jiya who was a fairy, along with her mother and grandmother with supernatural powers. Jiya tends to make mistakes and creates chaos as she is still in training and at the end her grandmother comes to set everything right. It is a bit similar to American show Sabrina, the teenage witch.
4.) Shaka laka boom boom
This show is also based on fantasy, and was very famous as the story is about a young boy named Sanju who used to have a magic pencil. The concept was whatever he draws appears to come to life and the characters have to deal with the consequences of ability of the pencil. The show was so popular, that same kind of pencils came to the market and every kid had it and desires to become like Sanju.
Thus popular serial revolves around Hatim who accepts a challenge from a demon king to save his princess. In search of 7 answers, he travels to a strange land with strange people, where he finds many difficulties, magic and mysteries. The story has all elements of fantasy, so it became one of the most watched TV show during its original run.
6.) Takeshi’s Castle
It was a reality game show with Javed Jaffrey’s commentary, which was extremely hilarious. We used to laugh their heart out watching people falling, slipping, and toppling over each other. Every minute of the show was so fun, that we used to watch each episode over and over again. That time, all the kids wanted to be on that show.
7.) The Legend Of The Hidden Temple
This was one of the favorite action adventure game show in 90’s. The show has participants that were paired up to send into the temple and find hidden treasure. The kids used to get excited watching the face of the gate of the hidden temple with those gleaming eyes take-in. In those days, this show was simply cannot miss the show.
