Instagram is Ranked Worst for Youngsters’ Mental Health…
According to the Royal Society for Public Health in UK, the social media is may be fuelling a mental health crisis in young people. There are 90% of the youngsters that use social media and they are vulnerable to the effects of inadequacy and anxiety. The new survey proves that Instagram is the worst social media network and leaves the worst impact on young people’s health.
The report suggests that there was survey where 1479 young people, between the age group of 14-24 were asked about their social media habits and rate all the apps on the basis of how they feel about online networking and on issues like depression, loneliness, anxiety and body image. The result was Instagram rated with worst remarks followed by Snapchat. The study suggests that Instagram affect their sleep, hurt their body image and lowers their self-esteem with increasing cases of bullying and loneliness. When the users use social media for more than two hours, it causes mental disorders, depression and FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). Instagram promotes more unrealistic expectations and rearranges posts one sees in their feed. Some people also wake up in middle of the night to check posts or sleep late and do not get enough sleep which is pathetic.
But, on the positive side based on these ratings, YouTube has been ranked best social network to have a positive impact on your health followed by Twitter and Facebook. These social networking increases the self-confidence and have a good impression on Young minds.
So, one need to try spending less time in Instagram and also the other social networks if it is having negative effects on mental health. In order to decrease depression and health issues for own mental benefits and high self-esteem the Instagram usage need to be reduced! `
